Just a line art that I did today for yet another attempt to color in photoshop. I get all excited about doing one and then I am kind of,"Blegh" when I get finished with my picture. But, I get excited all over again because it is fun...I just learn so slowly. I left the candles unlit because I was going to ask for advice on how to make them look lit and as realistic as possible. Any other tips, ideas, etc are always welcome. Oh, explaination of the picture...this is a vampire leaning against a desk looking at a glowing yellowish orb ( hmmm...will need advice on how to pull off that trick too...), as if he is remembering and wanting to see the sun.
Do not color my line art unless I give you permission first or I will consider it a rip. |

Well, the way I do candles and other glows is such; place the color of the light source on it's own layer. Then I'd color in the light source to the appropriate transparency, add a few highlights and shadows, and then prepare the glow. Lowering the brush opacity to somewhere around 30 (or lower if I just think it's going on too thick) in screen or color dodge mode, I'll make the approiate shapes for the glow. Maybe even change the layer blending mode to make it really glow across anything. Maybe a lens flare brush out of the glode to make it seem more like the sun.
